How to download your GitHub invoice
GitHub generates a receipt for every charge — your personal plan, Copilot, Actions minutes or your organization's plan. Where to look depends on whether your personal account or an organization pays.
Open the billing portal ↗Step by step
- 1
Open billing settings
For your personal account: Settings → Billing. For an organization: open the organization → Settings → Billing (you need to be an owner or billing manager).
- 2
Go to payment history
Inside Billing, find “Payment history”. Every charge is listed with its date and amount.
- 3
Download the receipt
Each line in the history has an option to view or download the PDF receipt for that charge.
- 4
Fill in your tax details if missing
In your billing information you can add company name, address and VAT ID so they appear on future receipts.
Tips & edge cases
- GitHub also emails every receipt to the configured billing email — search your inbox for “GitHub receipt”.
- Copilot, Actions and the base plan may show up as separate charges, each with its own receipt.
- Tax details added today don't change already-issued receipts; contact GitHub support to amend an old one.
Stop downloading invoices by hand
Every month Severino logs into this portal (and your other providers'), downloads the PDFs and sends them to your accountant. You do nothing.
Tell us which one you use and we'll let you know when its guide (and Severino support) is available.
Frequently asked questions
Does GitHub issue VAT invoices?
GitHub issues receipts as a US company; for EU customers with a VAT ID the usual treatment is reverse charge. Add your VAT ID in billing information.
Where is my GitHub Copilot invoice?
In the same payment history of the account or organization that pays the Copilot subscription.
Can I get GitHub receipts automatically?
GitHub emails them on payment. If what you want is for them to land at your accountant's every month alongside your other SaaS invoices, that's exactly what Severino does.
